Well, if you HU is turning on for even 1 second then forget about fuses. It would not even turn on without the fuses being intact. Check all other wiring if the HU is fine.

Double check ALL of your wiring that you did. Even the simple stuff like + to + from amp to sub and so on. I uninstalled and reinstalled my system for some reason once and I accidentally routed a negative wire from the amp to the positive on the sub.

Was your system just installed or has it been installed and is just now making noise?

While this thread is on the topic of it tho, don't most sub-out on home audio recievers just send a signal anyways? Most of the subs I've looked at for home audio have a built in amp that you plug into the wall.

I used to have noise problems with my speakers too. Make sure that your power wire is not crossing with your RCA's. Also, make sure your RCA's are not crossing any vehicle power wires. Helps keep the balance of the car similar to before a system too if you care about that kind if stuff.

2-3 HP is a little pesimistic. There have been proven dyno runs that increase power between 5-10 WHP and in some extreme cases where the engine is severely detuned, 10-15 WHP.

CAI doesn't increase WHP that much in a car. You can probably get 5-10 WHP from a CAI.
