why is my ground so noisy? couple questions

I can't figure out why my ground is so noisy. Is there certain areas in a car where a ground wont work correctly? I sanded it down to pure metal...im using a terminal ring for my ground and i got them at napa...im wondering if the ring is messing up the ground? because it looks like aluminum before its brushed (if that makes sense). what i mean is its not shiny metal. im sorry i dont know what the term for it is.

another thing..when the car is not on there is no engine noise and harsh distortion from the ground...but i can hear everything that is happening in the CD player through my speakers. i think im hearing the actual process of the laser moving and stuff inside the deck. could this be caused from excess RCA cables being bunched up behind the deck?

You have your power and RCA's on seperate sides, right?

Roll them up close to the amp and wire tie them :)

eh i have mine somewhat bunched behind the deck, but only like an extra foot, lol mine sounds fine.

check the ground for the head unit. That is probably the culprit.. not the amp ground.

Or it could just be a bad set of RCA's.

I used to have this problem....

I got a new HU.....along with a new installation kit....

I also got some Stinger RCA's off ebay for $10....

Changed my ground.....

Now I dont have the problem anymore....

hmm i got a 8gauge Knu Koncept amp kit brand new in the box.....not hooked up or anything.... the box is a little messed up because i was excited to get it.....cost $23 after shipping...ill sell it for $15 plus shipping.

where is the HU ground? what color is the wire usually?

i redid the RCAs and it didnt change anything, its the grounds. i dunno what else to try.

Ground is usually a black wire about the same diameter as the yellow wire.

Another big possibility is that you pinched the RCA somwhere along the lines and it is broken.

Pull your whole RCA cable out and inspect it. I ran a screw through one of my channels a long time ago and it caused noise. It just pierced the RCA, didnt fully split it or anything :)

I used to have noise problems with my speakers too. Make sure that your power wire is not crossing with your RCA's.

Also, make sure your RCA's are not crossing any vehicle power wires. They might be getting interference from the vehicle's stock electrical system. I figured out that was what it was on mine by playing the HU while not installed in the dash and then jiggling the RCA's from the HU all the way to the amp. Took me about halfway to find out where the interference was coming from.
