Cd player turns on then off.

Hello, i recently put a cd player into my car and i had it working ok but i had 2 wired crossed cause it kept resetting itself everytime i turned the car off. so i didnt that and i blew the fuse to the unit. but that is now fixed and i know the unit is good, but now when i turn on my car it turns on then back off. i can put a cd in it and it will eject fine but i cant get it to play. Any idea whats wrong? Thanks in advance.

basicly the reason i posted this is because i want to learn how to do it myself.

ok, now i know i have it grouned correctly and all the speakers are right and im pretty sure everything is right... could there be an inline fuse that is blown?

Well, if you HU is turning on for even 1 second then forget about fuses. It would not even turn on without the fuses being intact. Check all other wiring if the HU is fine.

ok one more try... i got a tester and it seem like im not getting any power to the HU. all the wireing is correct now. any ideas? It was working before i blew the fuse.

Still sounds like something isn't wired correctly, explain how you have everything wired, and we might be able to help you more.

ok, i have a 94 chevy s10 blazer. i have all the speakers wired right, i know this because it was once working. The gound wire is gounded. I have the battery lead to the orange wired of the car and the power lead to the yellow wire of the car. i also have 2 wires not hooked up at the moment cause im not exactly sure where they go cause it dosent tell me anywhere. But i had it working before without them hooked up when i had wires backwards. they are dark brown and grey. i believe these are the illumination wires. maybe this is the problem?

By the way it sounds to me is that you did not purcahse a wiring harness adapter.

i did but i could not find anywere to plug it in because i previously had a radio installed in there and i think they took the car's harness out...

OK, do you have a multi-meter?

If so, check to make sure you have 12v on your power lead, and memory lead.

When you switched the 2 wires you had backwards, and you said it blew the fuse. Were you moving wires around, with it still connected to the battery? Just trying to figure out why it blew the fuse.

What type of head unit is this anyways?
