nice/fast/powerful car for 30-45,000$?

so so many options.

its not the coupe its the 4door. Im not sure if that changes the engine at all.

what could you do to gain about 50hp and how much would it cost?

CAI doesn't increase WHP that much in a car. You can probably get 5-10 WHP from a CAI.

Haha! More like 2-5 HP on a Naturally Aspirated car. You get very little increase in horsepower with an intake mod, unless your vehicle has forced induction (ie. turbo or supercharger, in which case you MIGHT get 20 BHP). Cold air intake is a sales pitch, all the ricers fall for it too. :)

There's no way, 30hp is coming from an intake on a fuel injected n/a engine. Also, no the G35 sedan/coupe, and 350 have the same engine, around 270ish. Look for an HP increase on the g35 for 05'.

Actually, some cold air intakes do something. My buddy has a 2001 Pontiac Firehawk and he added a cold air intake and gained 17 RWHP on the DYNO!!! Its sort of a ram air system the way it was placed too...so when he's driving around and forcing air into it, he's gettin more. But yes, most cold air intakes on the market today are just a marketing scam.

So ridr4lif, your friend did about 5 base line runs without the intake, averaged out the runs, let the car cool down, then did 5 more runs with the intake installed, averaged those out, compared the two charts, and he gained a peak of 17 RWHP? I'm not trying to be mean... but no, he did not gain 17 RWHP from an intake.

You have to be making a good bit of horsepower on an NA engine before your intake system becomes a factor in getting more horsepower. I'm not saying its a worseless modification, but a lot of people think "Oh, he's got a cold air intake, I bet his car is a lot faster now! woot woot!"

2-3 HP is a little pesimistic. There have been proven dyno runs that increase power between 5-10 WHP and in some extreme cases where the engine is severely detuned, 10-15 WHP.
