Well, not a few inches, but maybe one more inch. The seatbelt buckles are kinda short and might only let one more inch. I'd really prefer not to raise the seat if possible.

Image Dynamics ID8? Bout a 4.75 depth you add a small spacer it'll fit nicely. Magnet isn't bad either if you were to forward fire.

Realistically it'd be hard to beat an 8W7 of the 8" subs available. W7 is a top performer as is but the market for good 8" subs is near nonexistant. Haven't heard a shallow sub even 12" form that would realistically give it a run for the money in SQ.

I'm looking into the ID8's, but with one question, can they really handle 300rms!? Kinda shocking for an 8"

not really. it uses a standard coil the same as what's used on the other sizes.

Thermally, yes. Mechanically, not in most cases. 150WRMS or so is all you're gonna need with most enclosures. Ported has more mechanical control at lower frequencies (until you drop below tuning) in that case you could get away with that much. But typical sealed, IB, etc. nah not necessary. The thing is pretty efficient as is, 85.5db is pretty efficient for just an 8", a lot of 12" subs on the market aren't that efficient just due to the design optimized for a small sealed box or similar.

I can do 150w each with 4 of them. :D

Time to get in some box planning. I may have to resort to using two; we'll see... lol

I concur however i wouldn't say not in most cases. and an efficency of 85.5 isn't that impressive. most subs today or new released subs are in the low to high ninety's and some are even into the 100's, which leads me to believe the sub has a decent spider (s) in which case it would mechanically be able to take 300 watts in a standard box and possibly ib.
