To break the list down even into them areas is hard.
As you can see, where duly fit we have done this to an extent.
Its just to much work. Especially every year when a product line changes :)
Yea, or when an entire company turns around.
Maybe one day we could separate all of the brands into sections of HU, Amps, etc. I think I will start a thread later today unless someone beats me to it. I'll have a starting list.
you're welcoem to help out.

It isn't free to run or host this site, and trust me, you could donate a lot and we'd still never break even. You're simply helping ease the burden by donating anything to us, and we appreciate that. Becoming a paying member makes no difference however, in your ability to assist with the input for changes to the board.
We listen to anyone able and willing to make mature suggestions for improvement.
I've considered breaking the list down into catagories, but part of the problem with that the number of catagories for products, and the number fo companies there are when you get into things like wiring and charging system upgrades, and away from the basic things like head units, amps, subs, and components.
The thread was created as a response to this board being flooded with threads beginning with, "Is this brand any good?" since quite honestly, it gets really tiring answering the same question over and over again. Especially when precious few ask about high quality brands, and the majority are nearly always asking us about the cheapest flea market crap they can find, wanting to know if it "bumps" or if it's great stuff. I overhauled the list a while back just to stop the questions about pyramid and legacy products.
I'll admit that I was conservative in my ratings of a lot of products, but after over 10 years in the industry I've seen a lot of these products and how they tend to hold up over time. I'm also very picky and not afraid to spend some money to get something worth buying, so I won't recommend a product based on price, be it high or low, but mroe based on long term service and build quality along with performance.
Some of the questionably listed product lines may have some terrific or very passable products, but I erred on the side of caution with the list so if you do choose good or very good products, you'll be assured that there's no question about their value and quality.
What I am considering is a revising of the list, breaking products down into catagory numbers instead of classes like good or bad. The worst of them would be catagory 5, and the best would be a 1.
That would give a less adversarial approach to the entire topic, and not list or label anything specifically as being "bad." What it would do instead, as we'd intended from the start, is to give people a generic ranking as a starting point to do their own research before making an informed decision to purchase anything.
