rca trouble.

Post by Scarrell »

guys, my Premier 670 is giving me sub rca trouble.. the bass isnt as loud when its hooked up normal and when i take one of the rca's out, its just as loud with them both in, and when i hook one up and leave one out and touch the side of the rca input, it gets as loud as it should be.. is there anyway i can fix this? what about "grounding" my rca's? will that do the trick, and how do i go about doing it, ive tried other sets of RCA's.. this HU is really starting to piss me off..

I believe you stick a piece of wire between the outer circle of your RCAs and the outer section of the RCA ins on your HU. Make sure you don't cross the outside and inside of the RCA ins, and don't cross the inside peg and outer section of the RCA while it's in or you'll blow your preamp.

Solaced, i took your advice sort of..

first, here is a vid, you cant really hear, the volume was low, but when i touch the side of the input, the bass gets louder.. and when i stick it back it gets lower:

after that, i sort of did what you said, but i just took a piece of wire and wrapped it around the input on one of the preouts for the sub(to note, i cut the wire and you cant tell its wrapped around the preout now)

it works fine now, i have it on -1 and it beats.. but i dont like this "solution" so now its either a new alt or a new HU...

also, i know the RCA's arent in the right colored preouts, i just wanted to see if it made a difference before i did this wire thing, and it didnt, so dont worry i switched them around.

see that lil screw about a half inch away right under the antenna... try a lil piece grounded to that with a ring terminal... should work fine and will clean up the mess of more wires.
You could also try buying a set of grounded rcas

I think you can also somehow open the HU casing and ground the RCAs to the HU chassis. Don't quote me on that though. I remember seeing someone that did something like that to solve this problem, don't remember where though.
