Another thing to check, test out the crossover with a dmm, it being an older unit, maybe the problem right there too.

Time to bust out the dmm and start tracking things down when it does it.
Get a buddy over there and start checking for the drop off when it does it, maybe start at the rcas, could even be a bad pair, then work your way through the rest till you track it down... I know it sounds like a pain, but sometimes you just gotta start chasing.

i've checked the voltage and with the lights on and the stereo cranked im getting between 12.8 and 13.2....i also put my new head unit in and guess what? it still does it...although it is much crisp and cleaner...i really think somethings up with the crossovers....i mean what else could it be...everythings been replaced from the speakers back...could moisture get into them and cause this kind of problems?...they are in the doors and when i replaced the wiring, the terminals were rusted
Do your amps have on board xovers... if so gank the external and run the one build into the amp and see if that takes care of the problem. It does sound like something is loose though. I would check that where the speaker wires connect to the amp there are no loose connections or the possibility of the wires touching... I've seen that happen a lot because people tend to not use a spade connection to the set screw and just shove wire in there.
