well i am running monster 0 awg....i am surprised about your opinion on the blue top optima although i just whent bad on me yesterday.the rms on the each bass amp is 1521wrms@1ohm and im running 2 of them at .5 ohms.so im getting about [email protected] do agree that I need a second batt. and I was looking at the kinetik 2400(probley 2 in the bed of the truck). The reason i say the speakers cant handle the power is ther rated @ 900wrms and im giving each one twice that.I get less performance out of the as the days of heaving hitting go bye. If not the new xxx what other sub would fit in a 2.2^ft box?

P.S. thanks for your replies

ok wanted an idea of the current draw you're facing, and now I see.

the blue top when compared to the other optimas isn't ideal to audio uses. That's all. It's also a poor choice for a starter battery simply due to it's charge and discharge rates. It's designed for long term, low curent draw, like with a trolling motor on a boat.
the redtop has the fastest c/d rate, so it works well for a starter battery.
the yellow has the best curve for sustaining rails at high current levels, like for audio, but with a lower average CCA rating than the red has.

all that aside, the kinetik is a good choice as an isolated audio battery. red top is good for a starter, as is a diehard gold, or a number of other high CCA starter batteries.

the new XXX subs would work fine with your amps, but you need new enclosures for them, and quite a bit of space due to their raw physical size and weight.
loud subs. not so sure on the SQ though. The old XXX is a SQ sub. The new one is just a beast and I've seen too little of them to really be objective about how well they perform, but looking at the specs, I'm nervous about a sub with that much throw.

alternators.. iraggi or excessiveamperage

subs, that's going to depend on how much space you want to give up for the subs.
losing the back bench/seats?

with nothing behind the front seats, you can fit quite a bit in back of an extended cab truck

sorry for my late reply just came back from my week at the marines.

yes, as far as my 96 dodge extended cab, the plans seem to be 6 12" soundtream t4s with 6 merlin md2 amps or 3 15" kicker solox with the 6 amps..also of course 4 batteries in the bed plus 6*20 farad caps and 2 alts

I think they would just be something extra for the alt. to charge.

thats what im thinking. he's not really drawing enough power to need all those caps. 1 farad is supposed to be good for about 1000w....i'm sure you're not going need 120kw.
