I'm still waiting to hear one of those times

see the above mentioned times ive done it....i wanted big subs in regular cab mini trucks....it worked great for me...sometimes all the thinking in the world dont amount to a day of just gettin it done.......lol

with the additional space needed for the 4th order box though, you'd have been just as well off adding more subs lol

hole came through the front of the bed behind the cab and then into the cab through another hole.....

those always bothered me a bit just because you're hacking up the truck and ruining the usefulness of the bed in one shot. neat ida I guess, but highly impractical with a vehicle that, these days, tends to cost $25000+

25000+ not for me pal....i never spend a lot on vehicles simply because i can fix them....besides, the point of those installs was not to have a truck with a stereo in it but rather to create a stereo with a truck around it......

then I guess the question becomes, why a truck?
they are acoustically speaking, about teh worst thing on four wheels for a stereo. small cab with poor acoustics, a lot of large reflective surfaces, and little to no space for anything except in the bed, which is separated from the cab. porting into the cab restricts the enclosure response in the cab to that of the port itself, which is limiting. Typically a one note wonder solution.
you can couple the bed to the cab using a topper and removing the window in back, of the cab, but that's not exactly ideal either.

just seems like a lot of work that could be done in a much better way by choosing a better vehicle from the start.

as astute a gentleman as you appear to be kiki, i have to ask why not a truck? trucks are my personality, i choose to drive them. if you new me you could not picture me in anything but a truck. possibly a mustang or camaro and i have owned both but i am happiest with a truck. i have owned lowriders, 4x4's, 2 wheel driver beaters and nice daily drivers, fords,chevys,nissans, toyotas, in all sizes, my first was a datsun and i wish i still had it. i love them and see the opportunity to put a stereo in one as a challenge and one i cherish. i assure you no system i have ever put in a truck was done without forethought, a lot of calculation and in most cases assistance from the manufacturers technical dept. there is always trial and error and experiences to build upon and rarely was the first attempt the one that i stuck with. but in the end perseverance, and patience have always allowed me to build a system i could be proud of and one that sounded damn good and was a surpise to most people....the best example i can give you is my boss' truck that he just sold, we installed and tuned the system in his z71 ext. cab and at his first show hosted by a local car audio shop and jl audio, he got 1st placein his class, best of show and best sound quality...dont discount trucks they have a lot of potential that most people overlook or just arent willing to work for.
