How To Wire Two...

subs together when there are two separate outlets (I hope that's what they are called) on each side of the box and the amp is a 600.1 mono? The subs are Kicker Comp VR's 4ohm. So don't I have to go from amp to sub to sub? Also do I have to change wires around on the back of the subs? Thanks for any help.

just run both subs wires back to each respective spot on the amp. as long as your amp is 2 ohm stable which most are you wont have a problem. you dont have to change anything around on the back of the subs as anychanges can simply be made where you plug in to the box at...

The guy that is building the box said that if I hook up 2 dual 4ohm subs with my 600.1 2ohm stable amp that it will be running the amp at 1ohm which is very hard on the amp. So do I need 2 dual 2ohm subs because I don't want to blow my amp. I want to run the amp at 2ohm, I'm confused.

no sorry i forgot about the dual voice coils...simply series wire the voice coils on each sub together for an 8 ohm load and then parallel wire the whole shebang back to the amp for 4 ohms...series wiring is in its simplest form in your case running a jumper from the positive of one voice coil to the negative of the other and then using the remaining positive and negative lead as if the sub had one voice coil...then to parallel wire the two together simply hook each positive and each negative up to the positive and negative connections on the amp...if the guy building your box knows that much he should be able to do the internal wiring for you so that your "outlets" (to borrow your term) will each be at 4 ohms...hope this helps i dont want you to blow your amp either..

Thanks for the info smoker. Man I've have had a crappy time with this system from the first day. A year ago until now I've paid $1700 for a system installed that has never worked and now I just wasted a few more hundred on new 12" Comp VR's that won't work the way I want them with my amp. If I were to try and trade these for dual 2ohm would they run at a 2ohm load on the amp or whatever? Sorry I don't know about all the ohm stuff.

well.. 2 4 ohm subs will put a 2 ohm load on a sub in a parallel, and 8 ohms in a series, so you should be good?

this is according to the12volt's calculator

They're dvc subs, not svc.... He can either wire it to present a one or four ohm load to the amp....

So if they run at a 4 ohm load the subs will only get 150rms each?

I just went to the Kicker site and answered my own question. If I can try to trade the subs for Dual 2 ohm then I can wire the subs to 1 ohm, then I can wire them in parallel and it will present a 2 ohm load. Sound correct?

or get a second amp...may be best as you already have an enclosure for these for your car...not the cheapest but probably the best sounding plan then you could run each amp at 2 ohms
