i'd highly recommend making your own box with aeroports such as these:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=268-350

2 cubic foot with 2 3'' aeroports would bring the tuning to roughly 34-35 hz.
Just make sure that everything inside the box is at least 3'' away from anything else

k well should this box be individually chambered? What length should the ports be? Should the ports be on the side the subs are facing? Thanks for your help!

it depends a lot upon what kind of car, and how much room you have to work with, sub back, port back generally works well in a trunk, while sub up, port back works well with a suv, or similar. The box could be individually chambered with each sub having its own port, but IMO, for your setup, its no big deal whether you do or dont

sub up port back is loudest in hatch back cars. although some do like firing to the driver side and port back. if your going for all out spl sub forward port back.

thanks for the help guys. i will go experimaent with sub up port back and sub forward port back. i have rattling going on so i think that sub forward pot back would sound the best. Thing is when the subs are facing the front it doesnt hit as hard as when the subs are facing the back.

Thats pretty normal. With the subs firing foward part of the wave is being reflected, and then causing cancelation. If you look at the faq section there are some pictures explaining it.

I beleive the topic is )why does my stereo sound louder with the windows down.)

explain to me y its the loudest design in street cars right now? these guys are doing 160s with 2 12s. 159 with 2 10s in this kind of box. 9/10 loudest cars in dbdrag fire sub forward in a round tube with a six or 8 inch aero port out the back.

but to the op. sub forward port back is really only for spl purposes. do sub up port back and deaden the car. also when you fire tword the rear of the car the wave is elongated although minimal it sometimes does make a noticeable improvement in spl levels.

Sounds like cancelation to me bill. But I'm guessing he is listening to more than one freq at a time. :thumbsup

And yes it is normal. Sure there are ways around it, and its not going to happen at every freq that the speakers play. Only the ones that are reflected 180 deg out of phase.
