UPDATE.... I did it!!!
Hahah ok well i found out what the problem was...
Wish i had a wire voltage tool in the first place... probably could have solved this a while ago... but after grounding the HU in 2 spots on the chasis and hooking up an isolated Battery power wire I was still getting no juice...
I was ready to kick the car in the teeth (if they had those ) then i realized somethign... Did i check the ACC wire?
Turns out when my friend was installing the first HU and was connecting the IPOD device he had the ACC wire exposed, touched the chassis and fried the entire line!
Thanks for telling me that now huh?
So solution was to tap into the Cigarette lighter for the ACC...
Works fine no audible distortion, and I sold my RE SX12 and box to this kid last night for $250 and i think he is looking for a 800w - 1000w amp now as he is only powering it with my Shitty old Boss Riot 1035D 1600W AMP...
Needless to say... even on the Boss Amp the truck is loud... those Xterras are perfect to load up with subs.

yes try the antenna

by CaptainPioneer » Tue Jun 12, 2007 5:00 pm

well if it is they are doing that stupid free install they offer

by jonnyb » Tue Jun 12, 2007 4:41 pm

yep, with most radios, you dont even need to hook ground up, just plug the antenna in.

but i doubt thats the case with yours. like bill said, take a 12v battery, or use the one under the hood, and directly connect the red and yellow wire to + and the black wire to -. if it doesnt turn on, its a dead radio. and i wouldnt be surprised to get 3 bad radios from best buy.

damn i never thought about that... mine never had that issue
also never did the other Recievers ive put in but i guess these new models are sensitive to that shit

i just read that the antenna wasnt hooked up and bout crapped....some cars dont see a good ground until the antenna is plugged in or the radio mounted

by jlcaudio » Tue Jun 12, 2007 3:53 pm

plug it in some companies used the antenna as a ground just try it and see what happins it is what i had to do on the last deck i installed about 3 hours ago by Blackmore

nah i didnt plug the antenna in usually that doesnt matter... Unless on these new HU's that makes a difference

by jlcaudio » Tue Jun 12, 2007 3:41 pm

not to pick pieces at other ppl but its interesting, I have done lots of installs for everyone, but for some reason it seems that every system that i have installed in a car for someone who is Jewish, it has had problems or complications, or has taking a lot longer than it should... I dont know why either... i say this cause my buddy is jewish, but ill tell ya he barely follows his religion at all lol Its ok though cause we all rip on him cause of it lol
