im actaully having a problem installing an HU
Ok i know im not a pro at installs but ive done over 15 decks before and never had a problem untill I got to this one...
Pioneer DEH-P3900... i figure what the hell cant be hard i mean ive done in dash DVD and they were pretty easy...
Bsically put it in a 2002 Nissan Xterra that has the a pillar tweeters...
Now i was asked to put this in for a friends because he was having trouble with it... I cant get the damn thing to power up!!!
It cant be blown because number 1 the fuse hasnt tripped... there is no indication of a burned out HU by smell or anything...
I even hooked it up directly to power and grounded it and still NADA!
Its def not the HU at least in my Opinion cause we returned 2 of them already... Either Bestbuy has given us 3 defective Pioneer DEH-3900's or I'm missing something.
I checked over the Wiring Harness and everythign seems to be ok... Although i do not have a voltage meter to check each wire... might go out and get one from Radio Shack today just incase...
Is there anythign i can do to get this damn thing working? Can I hook it up to a battery and then ground it and run the ACC to the power to get it to go on?

Oh yea ... i checked under the hood... 15amp fuse is fine... but i had no idea there was a "Memory" wire... i will just check all the fuses to make sure... Oh i was wondering are all pioneer wiring harnesses the same. Because i was thinking about taking my deh-p6500 out of my truck and hooking his up in mine to see if it works... good idea, bad idea? lol

Bill is it really possible that i could have gotten 3 units that dont work? I mean i only saw 2 of them but the first one smelled like it had been fried... but not recently... U know what im talking about right... Like When u fry a stereo u get that strong smell initially, but after a while it just smells faintly of it. Well thats what that one smelled like... and this one doesnt even get close... I just thought of something ... he has the Pioneer IPOD interface for it... u dont think that could short it out could it?
