Power is the only thing that can blow a speaker. Only reason a speaker blows is because of too much power, distortion has nothing to do with it. Clipping increases the average power output of an amplifier, twice as much power at the highest extreme, but regardless any form of clipping increases average power due to the square wave. That's what blows a speaker. A HU amp won't ever blow a 1000W RMS thermally rated subwoofer, distortion or not.

Yea man definately try doing it yourself, once u figure out how to do it you will kick yourself for even thinking of paying someone to do it!

Thats true about door speakers, thats why people get custom made kick panels installed. Thats what I gotta do next, cuz even with spacers on my door speakers to try and angle they only point to about my knee level. I can hear some from them when I pull my fader all the way front, but not near as much as I should be.

Yes, I've seen those instructions while browsing around. Maybe I'll ask someone if they could help me out with that. Also, I read on there that installing speakers in your front door isn't that good for sound quality because the speaker is so low to the ground and your ear can't pick up on all of the sounds that are coming out of the speakers. What do you think? This is why I was think of replacing my rear deck speakers. But some people are telling me not to get 6x9's....

haha You don't know me. Maybe, just maybe, I could get my father to help me out. But I'm completely stupid when it comes to this kind of stuff. I'd have to have exact, step by step, instructions. And few tools involved. It's not a good idea. haha

installing new rear speakers is a snap. you should not have a problems doing that yourself. the people on this forum know car audio and can answer any question you have. so don't waste the money and have someone else do what you can do in minutes.

I know everything can be a lot cheaper online, but I can't install anything myself, so I'm having Circuit City do it up. That's why I've been using there products as references. I wish I knew what I was doing, so everything could be cheaper. I was originally planning on spending a little over $200, but now I was just thinking of getting nice speakers because I don't know when I'll be getting any more money.....

How much are you looking to spend ideally? From there the forum can help you find something in your price range. I'm fairly new to car audio also, but I'm sure I can help you shop around for something decent.

haha I don't understand most of the stuff you guys are explaining, but you're suggesting an aftermarket radio as well? I thought I might get one, but I really don't have the money. Maybe I'll just get the speakers for now, and then get the radio later when I have more money. I just read the reviews for the speakers and they sounded close to what I was looking for, at a cheaper level, and I'm sure they'll be better than my current setup. I'm not really crazy about this stuff, I just want a little more improvement.

How much would this radio enhance those speakers? If you can tell....
