Amp for 2- eD 13Ov.2 D4

Post by falkenbd »

OK, here are some possible Amps I have been considering. I am looking to give each sub 500-800 watts RMS. I think the 13Ov.2 can take that much power without any issues (please let me know if you disagree). The subs are D4 - so i can wire them up to 1 ohm or 4 ohms - or 2 ohms each (you all knew that).
I realize this is a big list, and some of the amps are in completely different classes so please bear with me. I encourage tangents, and other suggestions.
I need an amp for a daily driver, so if its 1 ohm - very stable, and won't start a fire. I am willing to spend a little extra on the amp - mainly because then I won't have to upgrade again later.
Hifonics TXI-1508D (1500 watts @ 1 ohm)
Hifonics ZXi 1308 (650x2 @ 2 ohms) or (1300x1 @ 4 ohms)
Hifonics BXI 1208D or 1608D (1200/1600 @ 1 ohm)
is there a Hifonics dealer on here?

Autotek MM1400.1D (1400 @ 1 ohm)
Autotek SS1500.1D (1500 @ 1 ohm)
Autotek SM2-1200 (1200 @ 4 ohms)

Cadence TXA-1000D $199 from cadence

MB Quart PAB 1200.1D (1200x1 @ 1 ohm)
Elevation Audio DX1000.1 (1000x1 @ 1 ohm)

DLS A6 (1200x1 @ 1 ohm) roughly $600?
DLS CAD-11 (1050x1 @ 1 ohm) roughly $600?

Arc Audio FD 1200.1 (1100x1 @ 1 ohm) input sensitivity up to 2.5 volts???
Arc Audio KS 1000.1 (850x1 @ 4 or 1000x1 @ 1 ohm)
Arc Audio SE 2300 again probably out of my price range but 1300 watts
I have no clue on the price for ARC audio does anyone here know?

Audison LRX 1.1k
I'm also considering some other Audison amps. I'll probably add more to the post later. I'll consider any other ideas as well.

"So you're worried that your 4 volt output head unit will be too much for the ARC Audio's 2.5 Volt input stage

Don't Be

ARC Audio Amplifier input stage is rated at 2.5 volts RMS @ 1KHz without clipping

Music is very dynamic. Nothing like a 1KHz test tone. It would be rare to see a peak as high as a test tone. Furthermore, your head unit produces its output at full volume but when you tune your system you always set the head unit to 70% of the maximum volume."

the foose is probably 300-400$, same with the ks.
the se is well over 500$

My deck is 8 volt output.

I saw a Arc Audio dealer today - 2 hours away from my house (i happened to be driving right by)

and let me ask, where can you find a foose for 300-400? he said he would give me MAP pricing, and it was considerably higher than that.

I've seen them going for sale on forums bnib for around that, but more towards the 400$ though, but you can email arc to get the exact price if you want.

Ok, i'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to

Arc Audio FD 1200.1
DLS A6
Hifonics ZXi 1308
Cadence TXA-1000D

I'm really leaning towards the Arc Audio FD, but its probably the most expensive. Is the extra money going to pay off?

Does anyone have any comments on these?
I want an amp that
1. Can power my subs and sound great - and also get loud (The subs are eD 13Ov.2 D4)
2. I will be able to get a matching 4-channel amp for my front stage
3. If running at 1-ohm can do so all day long with no issues.

Also if a Hifonics, DLS, or Arc Dealer happen to be on here, if they could PM me a price on the above amps, that would be great.

I would look into the KAR series from ARC. Still a good amp, just a nicer price ;)

i would go with the autotek or quart of the hifonic's in this case. there both better amps than the zxi series. i would say the PAB1200.1 would be nice i have a pair of them on the way. ive personally had the 1400.1 the PAB 1200 and the SS1500.1 and all are great amps.

after seeing what ive seen on arc audio lately im staying away from them.
