no compression

well, ran into some trouble yesterday, and i figured someone may be able to diagnose. I have a 5 horse toro walk behind. Yesterday out of the blue i couldnt get it to start after stopping to empty the bag - didnt hit anything etc- Everytime i tried to start it, it would backfire, never once firing in the cylinder. I cant get any compression whatsoever. It is a OHV, and my first thought is that for some reason a valve is stuck open/ opening at the wrong time. I'll have to take a closer look when i get time, but it would be very helpful to know where to start,

you are prob. right small engines do that quite a bit

can you rotate the motor by hand? usually that will fix the valves.

to bad its not an mtd. haha.

found the problem, the valve siezed up, so i took off the head, cleaned the valves etc, and am in the process of putting it back together...lets hope that fixed the problem.
