no power???

Post by akredneck »

OK gurus, help me out!
MTX thunder 275x amp (used from a friend). Wiring it up bridged to a single JL 12" sub. Using sub preouts from a Sony deck to "in" preouts on amp, then out from labeled "bridged" connections to sub box. I have a consistant 13.75volts to "12v" connection and a solid ground at "gnd" connection. I have two 20amp fuses in the amp that are good and have 13.75v according to my DVOM. The power light on the amp does not light up!! WTF! Is there a servicable fuse/breaker/diode inside? Is there supposed to be an amp turn on wire in the loop somewhere? REM terminal is not connected to anything....antenna right???? Someone please show me the light!!

Yes the rem on the amp needs to be hooked to the amp output on your deck. The power antenna might work if its on all the time. If it turns off when you go to cd then you need to tie into your acc wire.

Before you do that, take a peice of wire and jumper it between the rem and the + on the amp. That way you can check the amp and make sure it will turn on.

^ Yup yup... Not going to get anything without the remote wire hooked up... If you have an aftermarket h/u look for a blue wire w/ white stripe (for most) and that is the remote wire.
