My dome light doesn't turn off!
I just finished installing my system the other day, Kicker CompVR 12s and Kicker 750.1 amp, and only messed with the wires attached to my receiver. Now, everytime I get out of the car my dome light and other interior lights stay on, no matter if I turn them off or not. Sometimes they will shut off when I start the car and drive around, but I park it and the lights come back on. I drive an 1993 Grand Prix, does anyone know how to fix this problem? Anyone with some help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. I don't want to have to jump my car every morning to enjoy my music.

I'm pretty sure nothing ran off my stock head unit because I replaced that over a year ago. Its not always on, the other night it was off until I started the car, then it came on. And today while getting gas it turned off, but came back on when I parked it after driving around. When the light is off my dimmer switch works correctly, but when its on my switch has no control over it.

Ya that sounds like my trucks dome light...but mine has an automatic turn off if it's on to long. Try pullin the fuse everynight
or get a new one. My problem goes away after 10 min so I've never had to worry. Do a search on yahoo for dome lightage...see if you can find someone that had the same problem with that same car and see if that helps.

Okay, thanks. Yes, I've been searching on google for solutions and will attempt some of them in the morning because I'm to tired right now, but hopefully I don't have to disconnect battery/pull fuse everynight. Hah, I guess better than jumping every morning though. Thanks for the help and time High Society, hopefully someone by morning will have gone through the same thing with a similar vehicle and provide me with an answer.

i had a 91 cav way back that did the same thing so i switched the fuse, i tested for the hot side of the fuse, used a blown fuse with a pair of fuse taps so i could tap both sides of the blown fuse, then installed an inline fuse and put a toggle in there so i could turn it on if i wanted to...i never found out what actually caused the problem, i figure it had to do with whatever controls teh timer for the thing

Your dome light can be controlled by two things that I can think of:
1) Your door latch. When the door is open, your dome light turns on.
2) The manual switch on the dome light.
Maybe wiggle your door latch or mess with your manual switch? Unless there's more to it then I can see. In which case, ignore this post :)
