Has this happened to you????

Post by breakjunki »

Damn... I don't think I've ever had just about every tool neccesary to finish a job break in one day in the same string of events... My skill saw, jig saw, drill. Well hell my car too.. all in one day. If that doesn't suck I don't know what does! First the motor on my milwaukee skill goes out, no prob.. break out the jigsaw, stripped the gears, nice. then the charger for my cordless drill starts to smoke.. Soooo I get in to the car to Home Depot I go, POOF magic white smoke, whaddya know blown head gasket. So I think I may need some new tools... huh?? Or maybe better luck... never in one day! I didn't think that was possible...

holy crap that's a string of bad luck there.
Impressive, in a sense.

hey, look into one of those five tools in one package deals every manufacturer seems to offer now.
skil saw, sawzall, drill, etc.. all cordless.
or if you go the corded route for the other stuff, this may be a good time to upgrade to an Li-Ion cordless drill. They look pretty cool.

yup, guess impressive might cover it!..The only things left that work are my sawzall, and a plunge router. Oh yeah the dremel still works, but don't think I can cut accurate with any of the above. So all in all not a bad day. Half finished box, half blown up car. Not to shabby :thumbsup

Amen to that. My dad's old Craftsman circular saw goes about 6 inches and then gets stuck. Neither of us can figure out why. I think the blade isn't tightening anymore (stripped bolt maybe) and it's moving just enough during the cut to where it just rubs the crap out of the wood.

The first time I used my dad's old Craftsman router, something shot out of the top and busted the lock for changing bits and undid like 4 wire nuts inside it. RIP on that one.

I'm going out this weekend to get a new circular saw and I'm also going to look for one of those combo packs with the circ saw/jigsaw because the base on dad's old Craftsman jigsaw doesn't stay in place anymore.

SPeaking of laser line saw... thats what my folks garage is for :happy055: . I went and got a circular saw(laser line). Damn those are nice. They live down the road so, as much as I wish I could buy a new set, funds are limited. I'm on disability, waiting on back surgery(sucks). I probably shouldn't even be toting around a 7.5ft3 box but hey.. priorities! Well I have all the pieces cut, except for the 2 ends(its gonna take another sheet of mdf) and marked for the recessed screwholes and all, now just have to assemble. Oh yeah and the minor inconvienience of doing a new head gasket.. sweet.

I'm with ya on the Milwaukee products. I've never killed one before. Probably the best quailty for heavy duty use there is. There expensive, but like car audio you get what you pay for. But hey, IU'vew had that skil saw for about 10+ years, not a bad investment....
