Kenwood Amps

Post by brownbob06 »

I've never heard a Kenwood amp or had any experience with them...Are they nice amps? They're cheap and seam to put out quite a bit of power, here are the specs on the amp that I am looking into getting:

KENWOOD
KAC 8103
1000 WATT
MONO BLOCK
• 1000 x 1 Peak Mono
• 500 x 1 R.M.S. Mono
• Vaiable Bass Boost
• 2 Ohm Stable
• Variable Low Pass Crossover
• Mono Block Class D

thanks guys!

I assume that you are looking for a one channel amp that will only produce 500w rms @ 2 ohm?

The reason I ask is just that... They are only 2 Ohm stable and you state that there not that expensive, but if you ask me in my opinion better can be had for the money... unless you are buying from an unauthorized dealer (ebay).
I don't mind some of Kenwoods H/Us, but never cared much for anything else.

I don't like them at all. They sell them on base, and they are way over priced, and over rated. They HATE being ran at anything under 4 ohm,

I just don't like them.

The subs I'm looking at getting (Massive) I can get in either dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm, so I can have a 1 or 2 ohm stable amp. I thought about a massive Class D mono amp, but I heard from someone that they blow pretty easy...is this true?

Thanks.

I don't know where you're getting your info on Massive amps, as they are actually awesome lil amps... I haven't had one come back yet and that is exactly the amps (Massive) I was thinking of when I said you could get better for the money.
Massive amps = :thumbsup
Kenwood amps = :(

Kenwood is much like Sony in that they both are riding their names on the higher end products that they use to produce.

well, now I'll really be looking into another amp, my C-V XL300.1 just took a crap on me...dunno why, but w/e...

But when I compared the Massive amp and the C-V amp before I got them, the Massive 500.1 seemed to be really light and small for a 500W amp...

With improved technology electronics get smaller and lighter... I don't know if you've ever held a 20 year old laptop computer or not, but they weighed almost as much as a new PC. :)

Just make sure that if you do decide to go the route of Massive that you set the gain correctly... I'd hate to see another good amp die from that mistake, if you fry the Kenwood it would just be another Kenwood paperweight :p
