These Fi's are new to me. How do the Q's and SSD's compare to JL's W6's? Was thinking about a pair of 12's sealed(or ported) for my 2003 Exploder. I'll have two Audison LRx 1.400's available for power:

All those power ratings are at 13.8 volts and with a mere 60 amp fuse I'm a bit sceptical about their actual performance

I'd prefer to go ported 10's, but am not sure 10w6's do that well in bass reflex enclosures. I know I didn't like them too much sealed. Clean and loud, but not as much punch(I dig kick drums) as my ported 10w3-d2's. The 10w3v3-4's have a new motor design, are cleaner and have more bottom end. They're an option as well.

Oh yeah the subs will be paired with a set of Seas Lotus References

powered by a bridged LRx 4.300. Was hoping for a LRx 2.500, but couldn't pass up a 4.300 from Sound Advice for $348 NIB(dropped line). I like warranties from a local shop which is one reason I'm considering JL.... again, but am open to suggestions.

i know a guy who has a 15" Q on 1600rms, and it pulled a 148 on music on the new TL.. it was pretty loud and sounded pretty good.. a friend of mine is about to order an 18" SSD also

i have a Q18 its god damn loud!!!! and it sounds down right awesome great lows, follows rock very well. I have it running on 1400rms

Sounds cool, but I'm getting old and am not looking for extreme SPL and giant subs. However, I'm not looking for totally flat transient response either. What I'm really looking for is what I had nearly 20 years ago with a pair of 10w5's in a ported enclosure designed by Manville Smith. Not bone shattering by any means, but they hit hard and clean.

I guess I'm a SQ guy and need something that will match up to those Seas nicely(80 Hz and below). I've only got maybe 350-600 watts(depending on impedance) available per sub.

Do they even make q10's? I didn't see them on their website. For the past 20 years I've only owned ported enclosures and have become accustomed to them. Does anyone make a SQ sub specifically designed for bass reflex boxes anymore? The 10w5's would ONLY work well in that configuration(limited Xmax) which is one of the reasons I think they sounded so good.

an fi q10 or 12 will sound amazing. The 18 inch can blend so well with rock classical and country. But becomes very present in rap and r&b. The 12 and 10 will do great things for you. Id say the 10s ported would be great. The ssd is built to pound not for great sound.

my SQ system uses a single Q15 with ~1500WRMS
very sharp SQ sub.

my SQL (i guess you'd call it that) uses a single Q15 with 1400w RMS. Very nice sub, gets plenty loud for me and sounds great in the process.

What kind of box do you have for yours, kiki? ~3 cu ft ported to like 32Hz... i'd like to hear it sealed.

I'm not sure my amps have enough balls for these guys. I'm guessing I could give a pair of dual 1 ohm Q's around 500 watts each. The LRx 1.400 is rated at 350x1 @ 4 ohms, 650x1 @ 2 ohms, and 900x1 @ 1 ohm. Unfortunately all these ratings are at 13.8 volts.

Anyone get a chance to audition a Q10 or Q12 in a ported enclosure?

why do a pair?? 2 subs on the 900rms total will only be as loud as 1 sub getting the whole 900rms. So save some money and just buy one Q. Maybe an 18

I would highly suggest going with a single sub, though. You have an explorer, you can fit a 15 or 18 ported box, and it will probably be only as big as the 2 sub box. And dont be so quick to go against ported enclosures when having an sq system. If i remember correctly, the Q's work well in both sealed and ported.
