performance wise as far as output... I'd have to say the eclipse, and if you already have it why take a step down just to have the amps look alike... If you're basing your decision on the performance... stick with the eclipse. :)

I preffer the Eclipse.

JLs have that nice impedance deal. They also carry that ugly price tag...

The thing I do not like about the eclipse is that it is a class D and for mids and tweets, the response is not as good as class A/B. I also know for a fact the the 75 watts that the JL puts out is more like 90 @ 11.5 volts and the XA I have is 125 @ 14.5 volts.

Also on the eclipse I can not bypass the pre-amp section, there is no defeat which sucks. If I could have bypassed it, because I have the Alpine H701 DSP, I would have probably kept it. I do not see how the JL is a down grade!

Im not following here.

How is the response not as good?

Its a 20-20KHZ just like all their amplifiers, and everyone elses.

As for the EQ bypass, Theres a low pass, high pass and a full selection. Set it to full, it bypasses it...

FR may be a little different, harmonic distortion will be higher due to the switching of the output devices, but in the end, you won't hear the difference as long as the power is the same.

That said, I'm not too big a fan of Class D for full range either, they have their perks, but I guess I'm an old school guys that feels your output devices should be inefficient and idle until they get an input :D The circuitry in ICEpower Class Ds tends to be a bit more complicated as well, which means more potential failure from an engineering standpoint. Not that the JL's are simple by any means considering the regulated outputs, power supply, etc. Quality-wise, it's a toss up. Get what you want. They're designed and built fairly similarly as far as engineering and component quality. And QC for that matter.
