Which Sub and Amp / SQL experts...

My car : 99 Crown Victoria / Police car for those that don't know with a big deep trunk.

Right now i have a JL 500/1 with a 12w6v2 and its a SQ setup more then anything else and i considered going ported but now im leaning towards Digital Designs 1000 or 2500 series subs or somthing of that nature quality.

This will be for a SQL daily driver and whould like it to be loud. I listen to rap and dance and rock mostly. I whould like it to hit the kick drums in rock and feel the punch to it in the chest and drop low enough for the rap and bass tracks. Im not crazy about low bass under 32hz. I dont know the resonant freq of my car but i whould believe its in the 40hz ballpark.

Can you guys help me pick out a nice system.

My budget is $550 for the sub and amp. I already have 1/0 wire into a distribution block that splits into 2 4 gauge outs. PPI a600.2 for my CDTHD62's upfront. Just need a new sub and amp and box.

The only amp i have right now is a JL 500/1 which i could use or sell and get a stronger amp for this application.

I was considering getting a stronger amp for my needs unless i can work out somthing efficiant but loud. Maybe Hifonics or Kicker or the best i can get for my budget.

Fi audio q 15 or hifonics olympus 15 with 1500-2000 watts in 3 - 3.5 cf tuned to 32hz

Ported box tuned to 36Hz and give that a try before spending more money...

What kind of box is that JL w6v2 in anyways?? Is it a prefab?? Making a new box would be a much cheaper solutions than spending hundreds of dollars on new subs/amps. You could end up realizing the sub is perfect and you dont need to upgrade afterall.

For a box reccommendation... i would probably do a ported enclusre, 1.75 cubic feet tuned to between 34 and 36hz. If you need help making the box, there are a few guys on there that can help you out.

I see no reason to upgrade a w6v2! One of the very BEST SQ subs on the market..and this is from a guy who runs Focal. Your 500/1 is the perfect amp to power it too. Try to rebuild the box first and see what your outcome is. You might surprise yourself.

OK guys i think you knocked some sense into me. Lets try the ported box first and then go from there after the results.

1.75 @ 35hz sounds good.

I was talking to a dealer who mentioned that carpet on the box can reduce the SPL a bit. Those who compete probably ?

Anyways who wants to make a devastating box for this

how many cuft is yours in and what is it tuned to ?

2.59ft^3 before the sub at 36 Hz. A bit bigger than the box you were looking for.
