What subs should I use?

Post by brewski »

I have a JL Audio 500/1 amp. I drive a Dodge Dakota Quad Cab so I have limited room. I have 2 wedge boxes for 10" woofers that I am going to use so I need a shallow enough woofer to fit in the boxes. I was thinking of going with the JL Audio 10W1's. I was wondering if there is any comparable or better woofers that would work. Like Kicker, Rockford etc.

if you want to keep it all JL, go with the W3's.. they handle 300rms each and that amp will give them their rated rms and slam.. W3's sound great in sealed boxes.. and they will perform great on that amp..

Are the W3's shallow enough to fit in the truck wedge boxes I have? The W1's were the only ones that looked shallow enough.

do you have a pic of that box? or dimensions.

the W3 isnt much bigger.. the W1 is 110mm and the W3 is 146mm..

but again, which box is it? is it a JL box?

yeah.. at best.. i have a friend that has a pair.. they are typical entry level JL, which is good, but nothing spectacular.. your basic W0 with a couple other parts..

I don't have pics or dimensions. They are RT Subwoofer Boxes 10in. I assume that they are your standard truck wedge box. Cartoys sales rep sayed that W1's were the deepest speaker that would fit. I'm just looking to see if there are any other brands that could compare.

pioneer premier makes a decent shallow mount sub. I heard two 12's in a sealed box, didnt sound too bad, plus i think the cone looks cool and yet different because it is completely flat.
