rockford fosgate P1's or P3's
wassup guys i'm new around here and could use a lil bit of help if somebody does'nt mind. I have decided on the setup i wanna go with and i have decided on going with the power series T10001bd mono block as the foundation. Only thing i'm hung up on is what subwoofers. I have a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis (with the extra deep trunk space), and i'm stuck between going with (2) P3 15's or (4) P2 12's. I know the 15's in the right kind of enclosure will probably give me plenty of low end bass and i figure that the 4 12's will play louder, or so i think. I just wanna make sure that the bass can get inside the car from way back there in that big, sealed of trunk of mines. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
My personal opinion, as a former RF dealer, is that RF subs really have nothing technological going for them. There's nothing about them that would motivate me to buy any of their products. They made the mistake two or three years ago at CES of having a cutaway of their subs on display... anyone who knows even the slightest about driver design was looking at them saying "Yeah? What?"
The two subs you mention - the P1's I wouldn't run, since they represent that sub that the guys in suits told the engineers they had to build, but it's simply a cheap sub that isn't even efficient (as some entry level subs are).
The P3's on the other hand, while having nothing really going for them, in a way represent an entry-level sub that has a higher power handling, and a disproportionately high price tag.
The P2's would be the way I would go of the ones you mention...
...but really, as a former RF dealer, I wouldn't buy any of them. If I just "absolutely had to have a mainstream sub", I'd go with a simple Kicker CompVR, which is very efficient, decently priced, and sounds decent in the right box - and kicks ass in a big vented one.

my girlfriend allowed me to do a little sub install in her car. She liked the "look" of the p1 so i bought her a pair of 10s. I fiberglassed a box for her that was close to 2.5 cubic feet. Not exactly sure. Didnt take the time to figure out exact measurements. But with a mere 100 watts rms to each in that sealed box, i was fairly impressed. They sound fairly solid for 50 dollars a peice and such low wattage. Not exactly what i would call sql but it wasnt awful. If you want to sound good or go loud. No you dont buy these or any punch in my opinion they are what they are and thats low end best buy equipment. Yes pricy quality no not really. I had a rockford t2 twelve running off the t10001bd for over a year and loved it. Maybe look into one of those or 2 t1 12s. You will get much better performance off of such a powerful amp. It will handle slightly under one ohm also i have that amp push a .65 ohm load for over three months on a Fi. Q18. Amp runs great. Your looking at a good amp now put some money in your subs.

so far all p1's and p3's i have seen in a showroom sounded like garbage, and if you count the 4 occasions in separate Bestbuys, i saw 4 that the cones were literally split in half from people playing with them... As Geoleman said, i would go with the Kicker or even some Pioneers over the RF's
