Amp Rack

Post by georgestr »

I have a 1998 Lincoln Navigator, and need to build/place some sort of rack inside to hold my amp (soon to be amps). Does anyone know of any good guides, or have photos of good ways to make something for this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When it comes to amp racks... 1st consider the size of the amps themselves, 2nd consider how much space you have to work with (many times the speaker/ sub enclosure takes up alot of the room), 3rd Best amp racks are ones where your own imagination takes over in design (endless list of materials).... just make sure it's solid with little vibration and that the amp(s) can breath (or install amp fans for them) and you're all set ;)

Yep. Basically, this is the art section of the audio world. There is no hard and fast way of building an amp rack. Wherever you think it should go and how you think it should look is how you should do it. Like Mike said, make sure it's attached to something so that god forbid you get in an accident, the AMP RACK doesn't kill you. Make sure it doesn't rattle a ton, and if the amps are under something, make sure they have ventilation for heat.
Pics of my amp rack are in my info.

Well, I took your guys advice, and tried to put something together. I pushed my sub over to one side of the cargo area (leaving room for the port to fire). And found I have a nice little 14"x14" square of carpet between the box and wall. I built a slanted box in that space, covered it, put my amp of the front, made holes for the wires, and am really happy with what I created. I don't have a pic of the finished product yet (need to get more wire tomorrow), but here are pics of the box, and a dry fitting of the uncovered box. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, be it positive or negative.

Thanks

George

Now if you get another amp... turn the amp rack to the side (facing the side of the vehicle) and make another one for the other side :)
Make sure an put up some pics of the finished work.

Amp Racks= Endless possibities with a little imagination :happy055:
