What would YOU recommend?

Post by PrimeTimeBumpin »

Ok guys, you've probably had these questions a million times, I don't mean to be a newbie but I'm really stuck. I would like to get you're guys opinions on what you think would sound best.

I have a 2002 Lincoln LS, the trunk is larger then a standard sedan. I currently am looking for the best set up for my trunk. Money isn't to much of an issue, but at the same time would like to get the best "bang for my buck".

I listen to primarily rap music, with a little rock in there. Originally I was planning on 2 10's in a ported box, but then thinking maybe 1 12? as you can see Im a little confused because Im not sure what will give me the sound I'm looking for. So I'll get to the point with my questions...

What brand sub would you recomend me going with?

1, or 2 subs?

Ported of sealed box?

I appriciate anyones input you can give me. Thank you.

Since you have a bigger trunk, and since you listen to rap music like me, I am assuming you are putting together a system to be heard a couple blocks away?

EDIT: Oh by the way, that car is teh sex. I want one so bad.

Yes...i forgot to mention that detail. The sound I'm "aiming" for is a Hard hit, but little or no distortion, and crisp.

Um, 2 12s? If money isn't a problem you can get two 12s and an amp to power them. I would go with ported instead of sealed. Also, I am planning to go with ported and 12s in my car and my trunk is smaller than yours. 92 Grand Am, represent.

well I might be able to help out. I drive a Lincoln Mark VIII LSC and I run only one 13" sub. I will be selling said sub and buying a 16" sub. *both Focal*

I find that only one sub will definately do you justice. Two tens will give you more cone space, but could possibly be a bigger box, just depends on the subs. As for which subs are best, it would be easier to figure out which set of tits is better on the Miss America contest. All are great to look at, but which set would be better to my ears (think face between boobies).

sorry, kinda late and I am bushed (pun intended)

best thing I can advise you of is list a budget, after that we can suggest some, then let your ears tell you which one is best for your needs.

I listen to all sorts of music, and my little Focal sub never skipped a beat to any of it.

Good luck in your quest

Well, i like single sub setups better. You get a more higher end sub compared to two lower end subs(when spending the same amount of money). Going ported would be a first obvious.

Though, crutchfield though is having a buy 1 get 1 free sale going on now.

I would reccommend looking at some Kicker cvr's or some Alpine Type R's for a best bang for your buck setup.

if money isnt an issue and your looking for great output with good sound i would go with an elevation audio execution. tuned low these subs are monsters! they will take plenty of power and get plenty loud for most people.

I have to agree with Joe on this one... cause when it comes right down to it, money is still usually an issue.
Give us an idea of what you wanna spend and we can point in the right direction.
Otherwise I'd recommend the Massive DMX12 another beast of a sub that sounds great :)
