Thoughts on eclipse speakers?

Post by neonblack »

I'm looking for a 6x9 with silk tweeter and I found a $150 Eclipse integrated point source component. I've never heard an Eclipse speaker before. I'm also looking at a JL Audio 6x9 w/silk tweeter. I'm done with titanium/aluminum tweeters (ie. Infinity) - too piercing for me. Any thoughts on Eclipse?

Specs for Eclipse SP8992 6x9:

Continuous Power Handling: 85W
Music Power Handling: 170W
Frequency Response: 40Hz 20kHz
Concentrically Mounted, Efficiency-Matched Components
Butyl Rubber Surround
Mica-Filled Polypropylene Cone (MFP)
Kapton Voice Coil Former
1" Ferro-Fluid Cooled Neodymium Silk Dome Tweeter

Personally, I have yet to hear an Eclipse product that didn't impress me. I just purchased a second vehicle, and will more than likely be putting Eclipse speakers in it!

The feedback I read from someone at another forum said the only decent product eclipse makes are subs and when they started marketing their products similarly to Infinity they went downhill. I guess everyone has a different opinion. Thanks for the feedback, I can't find any decent reviews of Eclipse speakers anywhere. I usually go to Ecoustics.com for reviews but there's not much there for Eclipse.

eclipse speakers are nothing like there head units unfortunatly. i have installed a few pairs and all of them didnt do anything extrodinary. they just sounded like typical run of the mill cheap speakers.

The TI subs are not alum cones.

Eclipse makes good stuff. Even their lower end stuff is a pretty good bang for the buck. Yeah you pay a little for the name, but IMO its worth it.
