i'm deffinitely going to gear my next setup a little more towards sq. I know the fi q 12's will be loud, but i want more sq out of the ssytem. Not sure on any of the othe rocmponents of the system.. i know i won't be spending nearly as much as some of you guys are though!

So in my next vehicle, i deffintely want to skip a deck and do a car pc. I know i'm going to have to put in a 5.1 type sound card (that has outputs for left/right and sub atleast)... and then use RCA's for that, but what i want to know is if i'll be loosing a lot of SQ going this route? i want the option for video and the ability to have all of my music at my fingertips. ? i'm not going to be competing or anything, but i don't want it to sound junky.

yeah i have a pic i just don't feel like re sizing it.. lol
as far as the carpc... probably jsut your average carpc.. 7" screen molded into dash, probably a mini-itx computer... nice big ole hard drive, depending on the vehicle, i want to install a slot-load combo drive in the dash with the screen.. or somewhere up front. i deffinitely don't want to have to go to the trun kto put a cd in (i fsomeone else was with me.) but yeah. standard car pc stuff i guess.. wireless will be a must.
its not the best pic.. but daamnn thats one hot tennis player.

Hay darth, why not do something like an eclipse AVN. They came with dvd, cd, navigation, touch screen, and a built in HD. That way you have everything you would want, in a package thats still designed to sound good.
If you really do want to use a computer, and have good SQ, you will need something like a deck, to convert the signals so they are usable by your amps. I am afraid a regular 5.1 computer sound card may have some funky output voltages that your amps may not like. (probably to low)

I have a teammate on the Focal team that uses a carpc...and she won the USAC finals last year and got best of show. CarPC's can be used for sq, but it is tricky. She is on MP3.com as RedGTIvr6 or something like that. Her name is Jan. She is more than happy to answer all questions pertaining to the carpc. Good luck!
