Possibly redoing the exterior of my car; opinions?

Post by Justin from Detroit1 »

It has been running through my mind for quite some time now that I might like to two-tone my car. Doing so would require me to remove the vinyl, since the whole car has to be clear coated.

I love my vinyl. I know a lot of people don't because hey, it's vinyl. But, I need some opinions...

How my car is now:

What I am considering doing. Keep the bottom silver, and do the top in a metallic blue (the roof would be blue as well). It would be a high metallic silver, very shiny (large flake) :

The car would be silver and blue no matter what. I'm not changing the color scheme.

I'm not sure if I like the blue on the hood, it makes the headlights stick out too much.

How would it look if you swap the blue and silver around?

So your going to peel the vinyl off or is starting to come off on its own?

Whatever you do next do it in paint ;)

haha

I like the current style really. The blue like you did makes the hood look larger and taller.

Im not much in the art department so I really cant give a good sugguestion, sorry.

I think blue on the bottom and silver on top might look better. Maybe with some custom silver graphics, tears, or somthing painted in the blue on the lower half. I think blue would blend better with the rims instead of the silver on the bottom too.

I'd consider the blue top, silver center, and bottom edge in blue as well to tie them together.
the headlights you can put smoked covers on if they bother you.
the vinyl can re reapplied later.. although it shrinks clearcoat so I dislike vinyl on cars with good paint.

how is the suede in your car? Is it black and blue? Why not paint to match?
