Polk MOMO 6x9 or MB Quart 6X9 comps

Post by neonblack »

I have MOMO 5.25" which are extremely well-balanced. All the MB Quart 6x9s use a titanium tweeter which I'm not sure I want. I've used Infinity 6x9s and their titanium tweeters have all been too piercing for me. You think the MB Quart 6x9 coaxials sound different than their 6x9 components? They're made of the same material. And about a 66% price difference.

I wouldn't suggest any 6 x 9"... better to get the adapter (or make one) that will switch it to a round speaker.

What's your reasoning? A 6x9 doesn't make a different soundwave than a 6.5" and there's more surface area w/6x9.

u are correct about more surface area. but think about the diffrent you have a round voice coil attached to a oval u get stress points and whe you get stress you get cone flex and cone flex can cause distortion. 6x9's suck

^that is correct... no type of speaker that is oblong or mis-shaped will ever produce as good a sound quality as a round cone :)
