Rainbow components

Post by subster87 »

I have about 150 rms at each channel at 2 ohms and 100 rms at four ohms. What is a good set of rainbow components with that much power? Where can I get um? and any other components ideas that would sound smooth with that much power let me know... THANKS

Well, do you have the money for Rainbow components? A decent set will cost you at least $500. I personally would not purchase their lowest line, since it is their lowest line and all. I have the Rainbow Profi 3-way components, and they retail for around $900.

Any Rainbow set will work with 100w rms.

You PROBABLY won't find any dealers in the USA. Might have to order from overseas.

Why would you spend such money on speakers you've never heard?

Don't take this the wrong way - but are you new to this audio thing? :confused :

If you are new, your money is much better spent on a set that pleases your ears, your personal tastes, your personal preferences, your personal goals, and something that fits the specific details of the install you are planning [which includes factors such as the relative locations of the tweeters and mids, dispersion or directionality properties of the set, and whether your installation location presents is more "enclosed" or "open baffle" - all of which seriously impact the sound, and sound quality]. :surprised

It's not a matter of "is this speaker good?"
It's a matter of "what is this speaker good for?" :thumbsup
And inherent in that is a speaker that's good for me is maybe not good for you.

Hey - you can buy a set of speakers based on a brand name, if it's a brand name that you want to listen to. :p
Similarly, you could buy the $8K Rainbow References, and many of the things that make those speakers kick ass being specialized and actually end up kicking your ass.

It's also very personal - it's not "this one is better than that one"...
How could you determine whether a Hummer H2 was "better than" a Yamaha FZR 750 was "better than" a Corvette was "better than" a Dodge Hemi pickup was "better than" a...
...you get my point. What makes it "better" is the context.

Bottom line - at LEAST use your ears (keyword: your) to pick your speakers (keyword: your).

Im by no means new, but i live in montana i dont have the ability to drive over to my local shop and hear such speakers. I dont really like infinity AT ALL.. I hate metal tweeter, i like a smooth silk dome. The only brands i can hear, and attempt to get myself convinced on are kenwood, jl, alpine, memphis, rockford and kicker. I dont like any of them enough to drop the cash on their "top of the line" speakers. That are about the quality of half decent rainbows. My listening test come from comprehensive reveiws from as many people as I can get them from. Then i buy um, if i like um, i keep um, if not i sell um.

I have open baffle application, I have the 100 rms at four ohms. I want smooth tweeters, my ears can stand any type of harsh highs. I want the mids, to be able to play low, with good authority, if they cant, reference me to a 6.5 or an 8 that i can add in to complete the sound spectrum.
