Amplifier and Sub RMS

I am new to this car audio thing and I am in the process of putting in my first sound system. But, I have run into a problem.
I have two 300w RMS subwoofers. I too have an amp but it is only capable of 65x2w Rms.
So does this mean my 300w RMS sub and my 65x2w RMS cannot work properly together??
I'm guessing I need a amplifier that is something like 200x2 RMS or more powerful. I would rather not buy another amp, since I was given the 65w one for free.

That means you should buy an amplifier that does 600x1 @ whatever impedance you need to wire the subs together at (parallel or series) or get an amplifier that does 300x2 @ whatever impedance each sub is.

Make some more posts and then refer to the FAQ section (I believe you need 10 posts to access it.)

Keep the amp and use it on your front stage (assuming it's class AB).

Yea that's what Im gonna do. I actually have two amps. This other one I have is an alpine v12 so it should sound nicely with the two freat speakers im gonna buy.

Hmmm, might as well get some help from the pros.

Well my subs are Sony Xplods. (yes I know they're terrible. I got them free from my brother. I'm only 17 so everything I have is a hand-me-down from my two brothers.) These subs have a 300w rms. the model # is XS-L101P5. They're going to have to do for now. So, Im gonna have a job within the month and I plan to get my system put in.
Right now I'm looking for a good amp, preferably cheap. But, the amp I'm willing to pay some extra for as long as it is good quality. I plan on using this amp on some new subs I will eventually buy. That's why I want good quality.
I have an amp for my front speakers. I have no front speakers though. Those I don't want to spend too much on, $80 or below.

Well under 80 bucks should get you some decent front stage, I believe smoker still has some that he's clearing out for about half of that.
Now on to the amp, how much you looking to spend there?
If you're looking to go with bigger subs in the future, I might suggest you go with a larger amp than you need right now and dial it down.
As far as you having Sony... Yeah we dog on sony a lot, but no worries... we won't put you down for it, everybodies gotta start somewhere :)

I wasn't looking to spend more than $200 on the amp. I dont want one too powerful just enough for my system to sound good. I'm probably looking for one that's going to let out somewhere between 700-1000w rms.

Could go the Pioneer route, yea i know its not the best of amps out there but it kinda falls in his category with the Xplod's.... Or if u look around u might be able to get a JBL 600.1 for around there...
