Musicians?

Post by solacedagony »

Any trained or semi trained musicians on here that could recommend me a book, website, video, or anything on chord theory? I just ordered one off of the Barnes and Noble site, looks like it'll have a lot of info considering it's 510pgs long. Any additional info is always helpful. Thanks as usual guys!

Yea, that's what I do. Actually, I take them one at a time. My problem is that I dont' know bass clef, d'oh! Grew up on treble clef.

I'm guessing (solacedagony) that you are learning guitar? One thing to do is to learn on piano first. Guitar and piano are very similar in terms of the notes and chords.

I wish I had some stuff to recommend. I've been out of contact with my guitarists lately.

I use to play the pop corn tin when I was younger, after I got mixed up with the wrong crowd and started playing heavy metal (pots and pans) I swore to myself I would never play any kitchen instruments again :p ...

No, I'm pretty advanced into guitar. Just to put it into perspective, if anyone's heard of Dream Theater, I'm currently learning a song by them called Metropolis pt 1, 10x harder to play than it actually sounds. I'm learning a lot of the advanced concepts of music right now like modal harmonies and whatnot. Chord theory is just a huge hole in my creativeness and writing ability, so I'm trying to work on that right now.

Mike Portnoy is my idol. At one point, I could play A Change of Seasons most of the way through. I really love Overture 1914 and Deja Vu off of Scenes from a Memory. That's fun to play.
