Using a monoblock for dual subs
If I have a 1ch amp, do I just put two speaker wires on each terminal to run to the subs, or is there some sort of, for lack of a better term, 'proper' way to do it

U mean Alpine Type r's i would assume... IF you were to get a Mono amp... make sure that it is 1 ohm stable because that is the load that you will be running those subs at, most common application for those subs would be the 4x 4 ohm version SWR-1242D i believe, if you were to wire them in a Paralell each sub would present a 2 ohm load to the amp which then results in a 1 ohm load total... Or if you wired them in a series, each sub would present an 8 ohm load to the amp but a 4ohm load total. IMO I would wire in a Parallel and get a either a 2ch or Monoblock that is 1 ohm stable...

ok well this is what i would do... first off is space an issue in your car? If not PM Scarrell about his box design for his Alpine's, he has a nasty looking box for it... i think you can have it ported and tuned to i think 35hz or something like that for the 2 of them and you will hit generously over 145db... Just get an amp that can put about 600w - 1000w to each sub... so check into Hifonics line you can definitely afford that, and you can probably order the amp off of Bwcad... I think he deals with it... I will PM both of them about it for you so that you dont have to do a lot of Leg work.
