Need help w/center console removal

Post by JGKC9AYC »

1998 Ford Taurus Wagon.
I know about the "U" shaped wires to remove the head unit/heat & air controls, but I need to get to the back of the cigarette lighter & don't know the easiest way.
I posted in another thread about the CD changer (or lack thereof). The head unit has controls for one, but I couldn't find one. How difficult would it be to install one if I found one at a salvage yard? Crutchfield wants almost $300 bucks for one!
Thanks!

If you can feel around behind the lighter you can feel the clip that holds it in...

Your best bet is to turn into gumby and find a way to get your arm behind there...
