Cool I guess. At least dealer pricers are staying the same.

Now we just need a dealer for RE Audio in San Francisco. Maybe next week Wednesdya I can talk to my local shop about becoming a dealer.

Doubt it, I went to my shop and they had no interest. Hence they are RF, MA audio. So they think they got the "shit"

The sad part of it is that their direct pricing was really the only competition their dealers had. Remove that, many of them are going to jack the prices close to MSRP unless they just can't make a sale otherwise.

But if they really want to get their name out, they're going to have to put some effort into either marketing or do it via competition. RE really isn't hugely represented in competition at the moment and IMO they need to be. Other than that they can always build demo vehicles for CES and such, but it's hard to steal the show when you're competing with multi-million dollar companies.

no prob.

And John, I'm sure that post was b.s. I don't really believe the dealers got cut from under with people buying direct. SInce they didn't have a dealer around. It has to be with them being bought out. I mean look how many people are buyin RE. Now look at how much wont be. The people that have a dealer next to them would by RE, but the people who don't have a dealer, buys from other brand, so RE doesn't make money, and some other brand gets all the hype.

The competition of direct pricing encourages dealers to match it (which is below MSRP). I didn't say direct pricing was cutting the business of the dealers, but rather direct pricing is competition to a dealer and basically forces that dealer to match the pricing that RE is giving you. Would you pay $100 more for the same sub with the same warranty just for "the convenience of a local dealer" or would you rather buy it direct and save the money?

You don't have to worry about that anymore. Now the dealer determines the price. RE dealers are few and far between to begin with, it isn't like there is another one 20 miles down the road for them to compete with.

Commercial car audio is overpriced to begin with, and it really isn't that hard to beat the pricing of most name brands. They'll still be able to give you a "deal" in that regard, just with a higher profit margin compared to what the direct pricing would have given them.

I'm sure you know the answer to that. But I wouldn't be able to buy direct if there was a dealer near by..is it really a 100 bucks less if you bought direct, or was that just an example? I didn't think it was that much cheaper to go direct.
