Help...plz...speaker busted?

Well I know i should od asked this a long time ago but i havent had the net. Well here the problem I have a pair of Boston Rc620's and they stopped working awhile back. Well they work sometimes but not all the time. Like when i push down on the cone it works. Or when the power cable is in the exact postion. So are they busted? I dont know. Any suggestions or help will be much appreaited.

sounds like an intermittant connection caused by a severed voice coil winding.
the speakers need to be rebuilt or replaced.

try testing the DCR of the speakers and seeing what that reads with a DMM.
if they're 4 ohm speakers, they should read a DCR of around 3.6 ohms

Ok GlassWolf... Im sry i know some about speakers and car audio just not much.... explain how do i do that??? I mean i just dont want to throw them out they were kinda expensive,,,,

You would need a digital multi meter. You can pick one up from radio shack for cheapish.

All you do is touch the positive lead to the positive terminal on the speaker, and the negative lead to the negative terminal on the speaker.

See what it reads. Like glass said, it should be close to 4 ohms.

Parts Express or Harbor Freight would probably have one cheaper ...and better than RS.
