Where to mount my 2 amps

Post by Mithrandir »

Im havin a slight problem mounting my 2 amps. My subs are gonna be facing the front of the car against the backseat because it folds down. I have my amps grounded to the seat belt mount bolt deal. I have like 1 1/2 or 2 feet of ground wire for each. I know no longer than a foot, well that doesnt work for me and my setup has been workin ok. Can i mount them to the folding back seat or will the bass cause them harm? Would the rear deck be a good place to mount em? Basically the length of the ground wire is my problem and i dont feel like drillin all kinds of holes lol.

back of the seat is ok....if you mount them to the rear deck some amps will run too hot mounted upside down like that......

First thing is first, change that ground wire. Ground wires should NEVER be hooked to the seat belt bolt, it is NOT a good ground.

i was gonna mention this but it wasnt in the question and it didnt seem to be causing you any problems but yea the seat bolt is not a great place....a nice flat spot in the trunk with the paint sanded away would be much better

personally I'd have fired the subs into the trunk to resonate more, and mounted both amps to the back of the box under a baffle plate to flush mount them and display them when you drop the back seats.
That's me, though.
I also tend not to use the rear seatbelt bolts if I can avoid it and if I do have to use them, chemical strip the paint from them entirely for a good connection.. otherwise they don't make good ground points most times.
