quick question
i have a quick question. i was planning on buying a new sub, but my amp just stopped working, so i sold my sub and amp and am just gonna start fresh now. I was thinking about getting 2 12" kicker comp VR's and powering them with the JBL BP1200.1Z. I was wondering if this would work together. the subs are 500 watts rms and come in either 2 or 4 ohm's. The amp is 600 watts rms at 4 ohms and 1200 watts rms at 2 ohms. so if i get the 2 ohm subs the amp should be fine to use with these 2 subs right. thanks for your time.

2 4 Ohm suns wired= 2 Ohms connected.
You need 2 2Ohm subs and wire them in series for a 4 Ohm load.

No, two 4-ohm subs (or voice coils) wired in parallel yeild a 2 ohm load on the amplifier. Two 2-ohm subs (or voice coils) wired in series yeild a 4 ohm load on the amplifer (all of which is what Ryan said above).
That JBL amp is both 1 and 2 ohm stable, but it is designed to put out the same amount of power out at each, so either 1 or 2 ohm load on the amp is what you'd want if your subs can handle 600 wRMS each. The higher the number of ohms, the less power it puts out.
Read the FAQ section for more information.
