Umm...buy a new car.
No seriously tho. Im sure you can replace the Head Unit, but it will take quite a bit of modification to get a DIN sized HU to fit there. Crutchfield MIGHT have a kit to install the HU.
I might check out crutchfield's site first. If they dont have anything, you will probably have to custom make your own mounting kit.

Looks like a double DIN or a DIN 1/2?
In a very BAD spot. That would be hard to load CDs into...
You may have to make your own out of ABS. Actually make it out of steel but use ABS as a cover plate.

it's DIN and a half. you can find an Alfa fit kit from a company like Metra, or failing that you can fabricate one from ABS plastic, or modify one from a Chrysler to fit the opening. It'll take a little work but you can make it happen.
It's not that hard really.. a lot easier than say, fitting a new Dodge Magnum with an aftermarket DVD screen or something.
