Post by Mallanaga »

hello. i am soon to be the owner of the 8445 (maybe the 55, but i just cant justify the price difference). anyway, i heard somewhere that these units dont have an actual sub-out. is this true? thanks for the help. i have more questions, but ill lay them down 1 at a time :bigwink:

Yes they do, but it depends on what mode you run, on what type of control you have over the sub. If you stay with easy mode, you actually have a sub out, and a sub control (volume control) When you get into the pro mode, you loose the sub control (volume) along with your fader, and balance control. Insted you get more bands on the PEQ, and a bass, mid, high, adjustment, that can be axcessed by pressing the sound button. Honestly once I got mine all set, I never need to turn the sub up or down. Maybe once and a while I will play with the bass, mid, high, adjustment, but even that is only once in a great while.

If your not biamping your front stage, the 8445 should be plenty. The 8455 does give you more control, but you don't really get the full effects of it, unless you can Biamp your front sound stage.

i dont mind if i dont have total control over it. i imagine ill just set it and forget it... :thumbsup

well, i guess im just nervous. is this deck as good as i think it is? all i have to base my opinion on is the 8v preouts. i already have to drop a good chunk of change on my conversion kit so if i can save money anywhere, that would be cool. i figure i want the cleanest sound for my MBQ-Qs though. my subs are running off the rear speaker channel now... factory deck, yuck. i guess it will be an improvement, haha. i suppose im just rambling now, but im excited.

i guess, me being a novice to the whole HU thing, should i drop the money on the eclipse, or is there a more user friendly HU i should be looking at? im pretty tech savvy, but still... comments?

The Eclipse in my opinion, is well worth the money. Weather you go with the 8455, or 8445. Both are great decks, and probably some of the best, in that price range. If you want more info, check out my review of the 8455 in the product review section.

Hay you know you don't have to do that dash kit. They make a diffrent kit, that mounts the radio down below. (its about 30 bucks) Or you can do a custon install like mine. One more thing, if you have an EX V6, or the in dash 6 disk that adapter will not work. Even if it will, you will loose your dual climate controls when you install it.

dude... thats my car. only mine is sapphire blue. 2003 Honda Accord EX V-6 coupe 6-speed manual tranny. full black leather and carbon fiber... ~love~ dual climate control with the 6 disk changer. mind you, i thought when i installed this thing, i just had to take the CD changer out. i thought it just wasnt compatable with the changer itself, which makes sense. if you check out autotoys, they make two versions of the converter - one for the dual and one for the single, even though i end up with single in the end either way. thats cool.

i dont want to put the player in the space below though. i want to keep a "factory look." i dont mind spending the extra cash. i spent the money on the car, i might as well spend it on the radio too =)

i fell asleep at the wheel on my way to work soon after i got it. nothing wrong with it, not a scratch on it, but boy did i get her muddy. HAHA. was that a ride... /sigh.

im in atlanta GA atm, my baby is back in NY. when i get back ill take some pics of my new set up. i currently just have subs.

final setup should be (if everything goes to plan... which it usually does.)
-Eclipse 8445
-2 Rockford Fosgate T1-10 power series
-Rockford bd1000 amp (1200W RMS actual... so nice, i lucked out on that one)
-mb quart 6.5 Q series in the front (factory placement)
-Rockford 5.25 Fanatic Q's in the rear panel, baffled (where the 6x9's were)
-JL 450/4 powering my highs and mids (150x2 front, 75x2 rear)

tell me how good this is going to sound, because im almost having a hard time imagining it

is there anything i should be taking into consideration before i tackle this, or does it seem like i have a grasp on things? any advice is 100% appreciated.

Edit... JeremyC... such a nice job on those installs. i like the custom tweeter kickers. the trunk looks nice too. kudos, man.

Yeah that adapter won't work in your car. The conections are diffrent, so it won't even hook up. In fact they don't make an adapter kit for either of our cars, except for the lower one.

If you want I can take some more pics of my deck install for you. It would be pretty easy to redo, if you wanted the same in your car. Heck even the hinges I used for he door, directly bolted to the radio.

Sorry man, but it WON'T work, Period. With that model, and the models with the built in nav, you have to go with the other compartment. Honestly I didn't want to use it either, but I had to. But now that its done, I like it even more. All I do is flip down the door, and she looks completly stock. Even adjusting settings, or changing cds is a breeze with it down there. My hand is normally on the shifter anyways, so all it takes is a movement of my finger and I am good to go.

So when are you doing this install? My girl, and her mom are here visiting, so I might not get to it this weekend.
