I Love Beer

Ok the forum has been pretty slow, and the political debates have gotten old. So I decided to liven it up a little. So lets have it, what is everyones favorite beer, and what are some good european beers to try since I am over here?

BudIce for me.. screw any light beers.... and PBR is also good and Skwaukees...

If there are any Belgian beers be sure to try them. When I was in Brussels I had some Leffe and it was awesome!! I don't really have a favorite beer, but when I lived in Colorado there were several micro beers that I absolutely loved, and miss :) 90 Shilling out of Fort Collins is great, so are Mass Transit and Laughing Lab from Colorado Springs. I tend to like darker beers, so that may be why I enjoyed the Belgian ones so much. Here is a link that details quite a few Belgian brews. (I have not idea what many of the types are :)

beer smells and tastes like urine. never liked any of it.
If I'm going to drink, I stick to the harder stuff. usually vodka

I've never tasted urine, so I'll take your word for it

Kiki, you know I'm just kidding :)

I think most people hate beer when they first try it, but learn to like it or tell themselves that they like it. I hated beer when I first tried one, but of course it was Old Style, lol.

Wow, thats funny. I was drinking a belgian beer as I was writing that. It was a Carlsberge Elephant beer. I don't know how many either. I heard belgium has around 1400 pilsners (just so happens to be the type I like). :excited:

Lets see I an not a dark beer fan, but I do like my pilsners. They are a little lighter, and have a great taste. I say a little lighter, but we both know light and beer don't go together over here.

So far I have had about 6 that I really liked. All pilsners, most of the wheat beers and darks I have tried have been more of an aquired taste beer, and not something I would regulary enjoy.

If you all can find these in your local store I highly recomend you try them.

Warsteiner / germany
Calsberge, elephant beer / belgian (7.2 percent, this one has some balls)
Schwahen Brau / german
Pilsner Urquell / Plzen Chech
Kelt / germany / its a wheet beer, but it taste like a pilz
Zlaty Bazant Neako, and Zlaty Bazant 12% / german / both taste great but the 12% has more bite

I went thru that stage. When my friend owned his bar I stuck to Long island Iced Teas. Then had a month or so of crown and coke, Before I moved onto rum, and coke or vodka drinks. I have always been partial to the white liquers.

Oh yeah if you can find SoJu at your local korean shop, try it. Wow that stuff is crazy. It will be hard to find in the states, but definatly a try it once thing.

Out of that list I've only had Pilser Urquell. At New Year's this past year my sister's friend had a keg of it at his house!! It is definitely much better from the keg versus a bottle. I saw a documentary once that mentioned pilsners are the most difficult beer to produce correctly, especially American beers. I guess the odds for making mistakes during the brewing process are much higher. I saw it on the Discovery channel, lol.
Leffe original is actually not too dark, and they make a Pilsner variety too. Enjoy those beers while you are over there, they will spoil you :)
