Mid Bass Drivers Reccomendations?

Post by CaptainPioneer »

All right i have decided that soon i will be buying some Mid bass drivers and i dont want to spend too too much! Trying to keep the set under 200 or a lil over for something WORTH IT. Saw a JL audio set but wasnt impressed and it was like
$89. Saw the Pioneer Rev series Bass drivers and was a lil depressed at the Price of $189 cause i know they dont sound so good. Then i did see a set of Kickers for $120, MB quarts for $190 and then i think i saw some CDT'S FOR $100. Any suggestions on something and where to buy im prolly gonna push like 200 - 300 watts to em and i know that most of them cant handle that so any ideas would be nice :bigwink:

Just raw drivers? Look into Morel. Great stuff. The ones you've mentioned above are also very good, it just boils down to personal preference.

I was quoted for $165 shipped on the RE series comp set. The XXX mids, which are suppose to be absolutely excellent mid bass drivers run around $300..maybe a bit more. Definitely worth it though from what i've heard if ya got the money to spend.

Only problem with the XXX mids, the motor is weak. BL is 3.63, not all that great for a 6.5" midbass driver, especially a high performance one. Low BLs equate to less cone control, but that isn't always a negative factor as it determines the type of enclosure to use as well. IMO A driver of that nature should have a BL of 8-9. If I were looking for a mid of that caliber, I'd get an Adire Audio Extremis. Same price range, BTW.
