Welcome to the forum.
Does your phone, or head unit do anything when it's connected?

Just to make sure, you have Android Auto installed on the phone correct?

Yes I have Android auto on my phone, nothing happens when I connect the phone with the usb cable, I have tried a few different makes of phone same result. It is suppose to do apple car play but I don't have access to an iPhone.

hmm,
Have you seen this?

sounds like a common issue with that phone and Android Auto.

Seems like people have no luck at all to Android Auto, to people having no issues at all.

Have you updated to the most recent version of Android?

Sorry I'm out of ideas.
To me it seems like it's not seeing the phone for some reason, or at least not making a connection to the Android Auto App.

are you able to open Android Auto manually on the phone itself?
