Stuck on a decision

Post by rav3nwolf »

Hey guys. I've read high and low around the interwebs about pros and cons about either audiocontrol or jl audio when it comes to their gear. I've got a build I'm planning right away and I'm really stuck on what I want to put in for summing/EQ etc. And maybe this has been beaten to death but I'm not really asking how to do anything, I'm just kinda looking for opinions from people who might have been or are in my situation.*

Vehicle:
2013 F150 FX4 Eco with Sony System

Build items:

2- Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1000F subs
Kenwood Excelon XR1800P comps for front
Kenwood Excelon XR1800 coaxial for rear
Kenwood Excelon XR900-5 amp*

Here's the thing I'm stuck on. Because of the signal summing, poor EQ and all that jazz, I need someone to CONVINCE me why I should go:

Audiocontrol LCQ-1 or DQ-61

Or

CL-SSI and CL441 DSP with some sort of equalizer.*

Or

Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.3

I really need convincing because I'm gonna have this truck awhile and I want a great system. And just so you know, both these options are in the budget.

Trying not to have a brand battle or anything, I'm just looking for input.

Thanks.

Does that system require summing? If you have even one full-range output, you could use that rather than sum anything. You only need to sum when your output is separate for tweeter, midrange, woofer, etc. Have you masured the output to be sure? Or maybe read it on a forum or something? I did an F150 without the Sony system and it did not require any summing. That certainly doesn't mean the Sony system doesn't either. I personally like DSP control for just that, the control. I can change my crossover pionts, slopes, alignments, EQing, etc. Often this is far more involvement than most people want to get into. So make sure it's right for you before you spend that money.

Sony System needs summing. Apparently you can't just tap off the back full range speakers because you lose some functionality somehow? I don't understand it. From what I've read, tapping into the tweeters, mids and also the sub output gives you full range on this system. I've decided to go with the LC7i for now. I just haven't had the time in the last couple months to do the install. I've only ran some wire for the LC7i recently.
