CD player cuts out to radio

Post by liftednali »

hey guys, im running 2 12 inch fusions with an audiopipe 1500.1 amp. Recently I've been having a problem where when i play a CD, and on certain songs that are loud and bassy the CD stops playing and my head unit switches back randomly to the radio. What could the issue be? I figured it was a poor ground and so today i regrounded it to a bolt that holds the seat to the frame, issue still persists. I plan on doing the Big 3 upgrade this upcoming week, but im not sure if that will be a fix for it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

That's an odd one, does the player seem to lose power at all when that happens?
I'm almost wondering if there is a loose solder connection inside the deck, and the vibrations are making them come loose and the deck resets back to radio mode.

Does tapping on the deck cause the same thing to happen?

No, my lights do dim but it never fully loses power. Haven't tried that yet, should i just tap on it while playing one of the songs that cuts out at low volume?

Ya I would have it at a low volume and tap on it, in a few different places and see it happens.
I would maybe even pull it out of the dash and tap on the case too. If you can repo it doing that, then you know something inside is loose. Bad thing is, unless you know your way around inside one, you'll most likely never find whatever it is that's loose.

If it doesn't have any issues doing that, then I'm a little stumped. Flipping back to radio mode is odd.

Maybe someone else will have some ideas.
