Atlas 15s, jbl 1200.1 and an SQL/L box

Well im sellin my infinity 12s to a friend for 150, with the box. Im gonna get 2 atlas 15s and run them off of my jbl1200.1, what size box should I build, i want it sealed, and i want it to be SQL but leaning towards loudness more than soundquality. Woo this is gonna be great.

A JBL 1200.1 powering only 2 atlas 15's? Arent the atlas' only 300 w.rms and the amp 1200 rms?

If so that jbl amp may be a little much for them considering they are only single v.c. subs. So they would either be wired at 8 ohms getting like 150 rms a piece or at 2 ohms getting 600 rms a piece.

Just a little somethin to think about

likes look the most they reccomend giving it in a sealed box is 350wrms, but i didnt really take time to examine that chart, so not positive.

yeah that 1200.1 might be a little much, just get 4 15"

how about one Avalanche 18(or 15)? they are dual 2ohms. wire it to 4ohms and give it 600 watts. then you could add another down the road and use the same amp. damn...2 avalanche 18's...i cant even imagine how loud that would be. call ascendant audio and talk to chad. he'll be more than happy to talk to you about possible enclosures, etc. man, i'm still thinking about how loud two avalanche 18's would be :)

yeah but I think he's going for SQL. I mean its a tough call, you do already have an amp so I would try to work around that, but it would be hard to change your whole perspective on what you want just because of the amp.

see if cardomain still has those 600.1's for dirt cheap factory renewed, that was a hell of a deal. You probably wouldnt have trouble selling a 1200.1 here or on caraudio.com classifieds. up to you though, you could also search some more and consider some other subs.

the avalanche has just as good SQ as the atlas, and, according to ascendant audio, one avalanche will get as loud as two atlas'. consider getting one 15" avalanche, if that's loud enough for ya, then sell the 1200.1 and get a 600.1 to run it. if after listening to if for a while, you think you might want to add another 15, then keep the 1200.1 and add another 15 when you've got the cash. just an idea :)

now the guy at circuit city tells me I can trade in my 2 infinity 12s for 2 of the new kicker comp vr 12s if I add about 60 bucks. They sounded ok, they were in a ported box up there, mine is sealed. It rattled their stupid glass windows so much I couldnt tell how loud they were. Worth it? or should I still try to do somethin with the atlas / avalanches?
