Next Project after I retire from SPL

Post by Bwcad1 »

Well im thinking about the next project to start next year after i retire.

Im thinking about picking up a Cutty 442 or a standard Cutty and making it a clone. Somewhere between 68 and 72. probably pull the motor and throw an LSX in it. Then either triple black or murder it out.

Any idea's guys?

Just like this but throw triple black at it with dark gray strikes one the vents.

personally I like that body style and the paint scheme looks great with the white highlights.. as far as a 4-4-2 goes, anywa.
I'm not a big Olds fan. The 4-4-2 never did much for me. That was the problem with GM. The cutlass/442 looked just like a lemans, which looked just like a GTO which looked just like a chevelle whi... you get the point.

I know the 442 has a big fan base though.

well, getting any classic car back to the shape in the photos, you're talking at least 25-35 grand. Be ready to spend that. More, if you plan to buy an LSx to drop into it, too, since this will also mean a new transmission, driveshaft, radiator, ignition system, etc.

I don't plan on doing it over 1 year i plan on it being quite a few years into it. I don't really dig the front end or the ass end of the Chevelle i like the dual headlights and hood of the Cutlass and the rear tail lights better. We have a 72 Chevelle malibu in the shop now. Its just Meh.

I agree with you on the cars but i was never a big mopar fan. Sry glass. The style just doesn't do it for me.

^^^ Blasphemy! Mopars rule!

Hey everyone has their own taste for sure...

I was going to say you should try to get your hands on a Dodge Dart or maybe a Fury... That would be a fun car to restore... My buddy is just starting to restore a 68 Charger and possibly (if he can find one) a 70 Challenger.

He just finished after about 7 years of restoration, a 67 Mustang Fastback... Original Swivel seats and all.

my dad's buddy jay and his 56 corvette took him more than 20 years to restore from junkyard condition, by far the most gorgeous car i've seen.

he took 1st place for the corvette gathering and the presidents choice.

you plan on completely restoring it to stock, or is a itty bitty system in the plans?

Nah wont be stock

I want my style. For sure gonna be Triple black or Murder. With Charcoal factory streaks. Gonna delete the side detail line. Probably no chrome might change my mind after looking at some triple black cars. LSX with a supercharger maybe lol.

Probably glass the trunk with an 18 in the well. Nice pillar pods. Not sure what tranny i want yet. Im half tempted to find an old Hurst with the lighting shifter cause they were ****in cool

I like Cheveys.. I'd just lean more toward a Pontiac in taht body style. I like the 68-70 Judge. First muscle car I ever drove when I was about 16.. rear wing, hood tach, 400 with tri carbs and RAIV.. it was great.

You don't want a Mopar as your first resto project anyway. You'd spend three times as much as a GM to restore it.
